Mena plays in "Six Feet Under" 2003-12-30

Mena Suvari is getting back to her "American Beauty" roots, which, given the horror of some of her non-rose-petal-covered roles (e.g. "Loser" and "Sonny"), doesn't seem like a bad idea.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actress is set to guest star on six episodes of HBO's "Six Feet Under," the funeral home-set series created by Oscar-winning "Beauty" writer Alan Ball.

Suvari, who was hired at the last minute, will play a classmate of cynical art student Claire (Lauren Ambrose). "I'm thrilled because Mena is an extraordinarily talented and extraordinarily disciplined actress, and I just think she can do anything," Ball gushes to the trade.
