Mena Suvari splits from husband 2007-01-01

'American Beauty' star Mena Suvari is divorcing her cinematographer husband Robert Brinkmann.

Suvari, who first shot to fame in teen comedy 'American Pie', has cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the split.

The couple, who have no children, first separated on April 24, and court documents have also revealed that the 25-year-old actress has requested the court not award spousal support to Brinkmann.

Suvari, aged just 21 at the time, wed Brinkmann, 43, in March 2003, after first meeting on the set of 2001 movie 'Sugar & Spice', in which Suvari played a bank-robbing cheerleader and Brinkmann worked as a cameraman.

The estranged couple also worked together on forthcoming release 'Standing Still', which premieres next month.
