Marcia Cross forced to stay home for pregnancy 2007-01-11

The Desperate Housewives star isn't due for another three months but Marcia Cross, who is actually expecting twins in April, has been ordered to stay in bed until the babies come, which has forced a few changes in the production of the hit show. Desperate Housewives has had to move into Cross' real-life living room. Talk about bringing your work home with you.


According to Reuters, at the end of this week. the crew of Desperate Housewives will show up at Cross' west Los Angeles homes to shoot for two days on the last two episodes that she was planning to appear in this season. That's according to an ABC network spokesman.


Marcia Cross, who is 44, moved into the house that will now become a set just a few months ago with her new husband from June of last year, Tom Mahoney.


Heidi Stein, Marcia Cross' publicist, confirmed the order of bed rest and added "this is a precautionary move only" because of her pregnancy with twins.


Marcia Cross co-stars on Desperate Housewives with Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, and Nicollette Sheridan. She has scored a string of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her role as Bree Van de Kamp on the hit show, now in its third season.


According to Reuters, Bree's plotline was supposed to be wrapped up two episodes past the February 11th episode of the show. It will get harder and harder to hide the fact that the real Marcia Cross is about to have twins.


So, now Marcia Cross' home will turn into Bree Van de Kamp's home for two days for two episode. A source told TV Guide magazine, "They are painting the walls, moving in props and furniture from the set. They're basically making Marcia's house into Bree's."


Playfuls.com reports that in early 2005, the internet and tabloids were abuzz with rumors that Marcia Cross was not only gay but in a long-term relationship with another woman and about to come out of the closet. Cross went on The View to deny the reports and in August of that year, Us Weekly reported that Cross and Tom Mahoney, a stock broker, were engaged. They got married on June 24th of last year in San Gabriel, CA and the actress announced she was pregnant in September. She recently said "I am absolutely, 100 percent fine. It's hard to carry around all that weight. I wake up feeling like me and then I step on the ground and I'm like, whose body is that walking to the bathroom?"
