Denise Richards throws laptop, hits elderly woman 2006-11-09
Denise Richards has found herself in hot water after a run-in with the paparazzi after throwing two laptops off a balcony and hitting an 80-year-old woman in a wheelchair.
The incident started when photographers turned up on the set of Richards' new movie with Pamela Anderson, Blonde and Blonder, and started taking pictures of the celeb. Denise Richards became agitated at the paparazzi, snatched their laptops and proceeded to throw at two computers off a balcony. As luck would have it, one of the laptops struck an 80-year-old woman in a wheelchair on the arm.
The laptop-throwing incident took place at the River Rock Casino in Richmond, a suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada where Blonde and Blonder is filming. The laptop that Richards threw struck the 80-year-old woman and grazed her arm, causing only minor injures. Cpl. Peter Theissen spokesperson for the RCMP told the Vancouver Sun that "Denise Richards recognized them [the photographers] and took exception," adding, "She grabbed their two laptops and threw them off a balcony." The officer also noted that it seems as though Denise Richards appeared to have a history with the photographers, but the police don't know what led Richards to become so upset.
As for the woman injured in the computer-hurling mayhem, Cpl. Theissen said the laptop, "struck an 80-year-old women in a wheelchair. It struck her in the arm. She was not interested in pursuing criminal charges and suffered only minor injuries."
Denise Richards' publicist, Howard Blank, also weighed in on the incident, telling People that the situation was "getting blown way out of proportion." Blake continued, "As a precaution first aid was called. An ambulance was called, which is also routine. No one was transferred to the hospital at all. Everything is fine."
