Justin Timberlake takes mother to film premiere 2007-01-05
After Justin Timberlake left 'N Sync to pursue his solo career, it wasn't yet known if the former Mickey Mouse Club member would sink or swim. Two massively successful albums and one smoking hot famous girlfriend later, the hype surrounding Justin Timberlake turned out to be justified. As Justin Timberlake looks to make a big splash in the film world, he's already making headlines with the reported end of his relationship with Cameron Diaz.
Rumors have been flying that Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz called it quits just before the holidays, and now the gossip columns are gaining ammunition for their rumors. Justin Timberlake attended the premiere of his new film, Alpha Dog, in Los Angeles on Wednesday, but it wasn't Cameron Diaz he chose to bring to the screening. Rather, Justin Timberlake showed up to the film's debut with his mother, Lynn Harless, at his side.
Justin Timberlake, 25, and Cameron Diaz, 34, have been a couple since April 2003, but for Christmas this year, the two reportedly went their own ways. Justin Timberlake headed home to Memphis, Tennessee while Cameron Diaz headed to the slopes of Vail, Colorado. Star magazine first reported on the break-up, as they quoted a source who said, "They had been planning to be together in Tennessee with his folks, but he came out alone and she stayed in L.A." The same source went on to say that Justin Timberlake went to the Senses nightclub in Memphis, where he was overheard saying, "Me and Cameron? We're done." Justin Timberlake went on to tell his friends that "the breakup is for keeps!"
While the break-up rumor was being circulated, another rumor began that Justin Timberlake and ex-girlfriend Veronica Finn were being very friendly to each other. The Star source said that "I saw him give her a warm kiss on the cheek and squeeze her hand repeatedly," and that, "He left with his arm around her shoulders." Another source confirmed the Justin Timberlake Christmas party accounts by saying, "Around 2 a.m. he was with a dozen friends in the VIP room when he was asked where Cameron was. Justin said, 'We're done. It's over!' He didn't seem at all unhappy."
Also on Wednesday, before Timberlake headed over to the Alpha Dog premiere, Justin appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote the film. While Timberlake had been very open about his relationship with Cameron Diaz in the past, Wednesday night's appearance was noticeably devoid of any conversation about the Shrek star. Despite the rumors of the break-up, Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake were seen together in Los Angeles days after Christmas, but, as The Daily Telegraph reports, they told reporters that they "do not comment on their personal lives."
Meanwhile, Hollywood gossip columnist Janet Charlton is reaching her own conclusions on the situation. Charlton was quoted by The Daily Telegraph as claiming a source told her, "Justin and Cameron broke up almost two weeks ago. I reckon he'll hook up with Scarlett Johansson. They've been getting to know each other." However, E Online has a rumor of their own, after Timberlake spent his New Year's at Kate Hudson's party at her L.A.-area home. E Online columnist Marc Malkin quoted a source who said Timberlake and Kate Hudson, who is involved in break-up rumors of her own with alleged boyfriend Owen Wilson, " were flirting and talking all night." Then, at one point, the source claims the duo went upstairs together, and, "When Kate came back, she was wearing a different outfit." The source has one last observation about the Kate Hudson house party, claiming Justin Timberlake, " didn't look like he was going to be leaving anytime soon." Timberlake's rep wouldn't comment on the Kate Hudson situation, while Hudson's rep, who is also Cameron Diaz's rep, told E Online, "He was one of many guests at the party. They are friends, nothing more."
So, Justin Timberlake, the revered "SexyBack" singer, may be out of one celebrity relationship, but is he headed into another? Seeing as how he dated Britney Spears before Cameron Diaz, it seems more than plausible.
