Beyoncé Knowles was forced to cut short her lavish birthday party when it was gatecrashed by police.

The sexy singer was celebrated her 23rd birthday on Saturday night (04.08.04) with a host of celebrity friends - including Naomi Campbell, her Destiny's Child bandmates and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen - when officers stormed the bash after complaints from locals about the noise.

Beyoncé's fiancé, Jay-Z, threw the extravagant party - which cost a staggering £280,000 - for her on the rooftop terrace of New York's trendy Soho House Hotel.

However, the birthday girl wasn't deterred by the setback and continued with her celebrations the following night (05.08.04) at New York's exclusive Marquee Club.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are renowned for their lavish lifestyle. Last month, the star couple reportedly splashed out almost £300,000 on a four-day holiday.

The 'Bootylicious' babe and her fiancé enjoyed a romantic break in the swanky French resort of St Tropez, which cost them a small fortune.


During their stay, they hired a luxurious yacht for a reported £10,000-a-day and a private jet, which costs up to £10,000-an-hour.
