New Arnold Schwarzenegger scandal accusations 2007-01-01
ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER has been forced to back out of starring in the remake of
sci-fi thriller WESTWORLD, because he's too busy with his role as California
Governor.
Schwarzenegger had planned to co-produce and appear in the movie, but it was
all put aside after he walked away from California's 2003 gubernatorial
election victorious.
And now the production is going ahead without the TERMINATOR star, after
TARSEM SINGH, who directed JENNIFER LOPEZ's critically panned 2000 thriller THE
CELL, was named as director.
Schwarzenegger has not held any discussions about involvement with the film,
according to his representative SHERYL MAIN, who adds, "It's not even on the
governor's radar right now. He's concentrating on the special election that's
coming up in November. That is not even a blip on the screen."
Meanwhile a woman who allegedly had an affair with ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER was reportedly
paid $20,000 (£11,000) by the publisher of US tabloid the National Enquirer to
keep the scandal secret.
A friend of the woman, named by the Los Angeles Times as 46-year-old GIGI
GOYETTE, claims she was also paid $1,000 (£550) by the tabloid to keep
confidential what she knew, in reported deals that came just days after
Schwarzenegger announced his candidacy for California Governor in 2003.
The friend, JUDY MORA, says, "I kind of felt that they just wanted to not
hear more about Arnold and his women or his flirtations."
At the time of the confidentiality agreement, American Media Incorporated,
owner of the National Enquirer, was in negotiations to make Schwarzenegger
executive editor of two fitness magazines which had helped make him the world's
most famous bodybuilder, according to the Los Angeles Times.
A spokesman for Schwarzenegger says he believes the actor-turned-politician
knew nothing about the reported deals.
American Media spokesman STUART ZAKIM declined to comment on the report.
The TERMINATOR star ended a contract with American Media last month (JUL05) -
just two days after it was disclosed that he had a deal worth at least $13
million (£7.2 million) over five years to serve as executive editor of Muscle
And Fitness and Flex magazines.
In 2001, two years before American Media bought the two fitness magazines,
the National Enquirer reported that Goyette enjoyed a seven year-long affair
with Schwarzenegger.
